Battle stats

Power, Guard, Agility and Finesse: what each battle stat does in a fight and why a balanced build matters.

You have four battle stats. They decide fights and are raised in the gym.

StatWhat it does
PowerHow hard you hit. Raises the damage of every strike, and the more Power you have against a defender's Guard, the less of it they block.
GuardHow much damage you shrug off. Compared with the attacker's Power to decide how much of each hit you block (never more than 90%).
AgilityHow often you land. Compared with the defender's Finesse to decide your hit chance.
FinesseHow often you are missed. Compared with the attacker's Agility; high Finesse makes you hard to hit.

Balance matters

Every stat is compared with the opponent's opposite stat on a ratio, not a difference (see combat). Doubling your Agility against the same Finesse moves your hit chance the same amount whether you go from 100 to 200 or from 10,000 to 20,000. Neglecting one stat leaves a gap a balanced opponent can use.

Work stats are separate

Labor, Intellect and Endurance are work stats from jobs. They do nothing in a fight, but jobs, companies and heist roles use them.

Raising stats in fights

Merits, faction perks, drugs and some stock and company perks raise a battle stat by a percentage during fights only. They do not change the trained number. See merits and faction perks.
